  • Just wrapped up spring break camp at Salmon Forest and wow !!! Even in the rain, my daughter was saying ‘this was the best day ever!’ After everyday ! This was her second time attending this camp and it’s her favourite. Simona has created such a magical space for the kids. It’s soul fulfilling. I’m so grateful this is available to our family. Quinn can’t wait to attend again this summer.

  • We love this camp - the teachers are amazing and kind and the space the kids are learning/playing in is beautiful and all in nature. My son came home every day thrilled and so happy! We will continue to send my kids over Spring Break and Summer Break.

  • This is an absolute gem of a camp, and I'm so glad that we've been able to be a part of it. Being able to have my child play all day in nature and learn about all that it has to offer has been amazing! I could not recommend this camp enough, and Simona is absolutely lovely, and the kids adore her.

  • My 5 & 7 year old daughters absolutely loved their Spring Break week at Salmon Forest. The teachers are so lovely and they built such a great connection with the girls. They came home happy, exhausted and covered in mud!

FAQs

  • Our camps are designed for children in Kindergarten to Grade 3, but if your child is just outside this range, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to chat.

  • Camps run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Drop-off and pick-up at Mossom Creek Hatchery, Port Moody.

  • All seasonal camps are held at Mossom Creek Hatchery in Port Moody, a beautiful site surrounded by forest, creek, and salmon habitat.

  • Yes, we spend most of the day outside exploring the forest and creek. However, we take our lunch breaks inside the Mossom Creek Education Centre to help protect local wildlife and keep food smells away from curious animals.

  • A packing list will be provided before camp, but essentials include:

    • Backpack with lunch and snacks

    • Full water bottle

    • Weather-appropriate clothing (layers, waterproof gear)

    • Closed-toe shoes or boots

    • Curiosity and kindness 🌱

  • All programs are led by experienced forest school practitioners. Simona (founder of Salmon Forest) and her team are certified, trained in first aid, and carry bear spray and safety gear. Our ratio is low to ensure safe, high-quality care.

  • Then we play in the rain! Unless there is unsafe weather (like high winds or lightning), the program continues outdoors. Children are taught how to dress appropriately and learn the joy of all-weather adventure.

  • Our activities often include stories from Indigenous authors, teachings about local plants and animals, and a respectful understanding of the land we’re learning on. These teachings are shared thoughtfully and age-appropriately.

  • We have access to both an indoor washroom and an outhouse near the Education Centre. When we're deep in the forest, we use a designated nature pee area where children are gently guided on how to go safely and respectfully in nature.

It’s a normal part of forest life, and we make sure kids feel comfortable, private, and safe. Many actually find it fun! We recommend packing extra clothes just in case — it's all part of the adventure.

  • We offer a full refund if you cancel at least one month before the program start date, minus a $30 administration fee. Cancellations made less than one month in advance are non-refundable, as we prepare and staff based on registered participants.
